The SAPS offers positions in a range of industries. If you join the SAPS, you can work as a citizen or a police officer. According to the South African Police Service Act, 1995, police officers are employed (Act No 68 of 1995). Civilians are engaged in accordance with the Public Service Act of 1994. (Act No 103 of 1994). The majority of effective police officers work directly to prevent, suppress, or investigate crime. Support roles are performed by civilian employees and other Police officials.
